Jan Šimandl is one of the youngest Czech pianists. His interpretation qualities have brought him to the Listina mladých Nadace Českého hudebního fondu.

He grew up in Karlovy Vary in the family of musicians (composing father and a violoncello playing mother). He started to study playing the piano when he was six years old, followed by studies at the conservatory led by MgA. Věra Müllerová. In 2009 he started do attend Janáčkova akademie múzických umění led by prof. Alena Vlasáková and now he studies, as a part of Erasmus, at Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover, Germany, led by prof. Roland Krüger. He attended multiple courses led by Czech and forein teachers, he performed at the International piano festival 2011 in New York, at Dvořákův karlovarský podzim festival, Beethovenovy dny and Janáček Brno. He has been successful in Sweden, Spain, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Japan and USA.

Jan Šimandl has won the international contest "Pro Bohemia", the Soutěž českých konzervatoří and the second place and laureat title at Mezinárodní smetanovská soutěž in Plzeň. He was the only european to be chosen to "Young Artists Piano Competition" in Rochester, USA. He has just been recording for Český rozhlas and has performed with Karlovarský symfonický orchestr, Plzeňská filharmonie or Filharmonie Brno multiple times.

On this night we will have the chance to hear famous Ludwig van Beethoven sonatas "Pathetic", "Valdštejn", "Moonlight" and "Appassionata".
